A convenient and scenic drive from the city, we are situated at the gateway to the Paarl wine route, just 50 minutes from Cape Town. A tree-lined driveway guides you through manicured vineyards to the guesthouse, which is perched on a hill of the 155 hectare Bakenhof Grape and Wine farm. The only traffic rule you'll have to obey on our 2km stretch of private tarred driveway is to make way for the resident geese, which patrol and cross the road as they please. Soak up incredible views of Table Mountain from the patio whilst sipping an indulgent welcome drink and be greeted by the sounds of nature in the lush gardens. Dedicated to elegant celebrations for up to 40 guests, we go to tremendous effort to ensure that Bakenhof provides a lavish and refined air for exclusive, intimate functions. A range of options and various areas are on offer to cater for your specific needs and we are flexible in allowing for last minute changes, should there be a change in weather or plans. Soothing sounds of the outdoor water-feature beckon guests to the luxurious and elegant venue where the pool area and surrounding palm trees are lit up at night, creating a mood of tropical magic. Our philosophy of hosting only one function at a time ensures a private setting against a storybook backdrop in a relaxed and secure environment. We offer various indoor and outdoor options: The Front Patio (9m x 3 m = 27 smq under roof) Be welcomed by running water of a fountain and enjoy the fresh, outdoor ambience. Ideal for a Welcome Cocktail or Sundowners, this is an ideal area where guests can enjoy stunning table mountain sunset views! The Formal Dining Room(14mx7m) = 98sqm Sophisticated, elegant and classical in design, the formal lounge/dining room is fitted with a cosy fire-place, making it ideal for hosting your event even in the cooler months. For the summer months, air-conditioners provide relief from the heat of the day. Crystal chandeliers and dimmed lighting enhance the intimate mood and there is easy access onto the Front Patio which enjoys stunning sunsets and views of Table Mountain. 30-40 guests can be seated at a central, long table with white tablecloth and comfortable leather high back chairs. The Pergola (23 m x 5 m = 115 sqm) Available for daytime functions and set amongst the vineyards, rose garden and rolling lawns it creates a breathtaking summer setting. The paved area is covered with dense, flowering Bougainvillea which offers ample shade. 30-50 guests can be seated teak garden chairs with elegant chair covers. The Garden Manicured and lush, various areas can be set up during the daytime to accommodate the Reception for 30-50 guests. Celebrate in an elegant manner and choose your unique view-blessed spot with teak garden chairs and tables, attractive chair covers, white table cloths and silver cutlery - or choose to be irresistibly romantic and laze on the rolling lawns under white umbrellas with Mother Nature as decoration whilst enjoying delicacies from picnic baskets. The Pool Patio and Lounge (16 m x 4 m = 64 sqm) The leafy, vine-covered pergola is located next to the large pool and flourishing garden. The area is tiled and white umbrellas offer shade. 30-40 guests can be seated on teak garden chairs (with covers) or sophisticated high back leather chairs. Sliding doors open onto the lounge area, measuring an additional 18 m x 6 m, with two large fireplaces and elegant bar, making this a popular choice for colder months, or for parties looking for an informal dance floor.
